Today, I went with a bunch of other members of the media inside the National Cathedral, to survey the damage from last week's earthquake.
To my eyes, nothing looked (all that) wrong. That place, with it's majestic 98 foot ceilings, was still as breathtaking as ever. But there is millions of dollars worth of damage inside and outside! Workers are putting up a net along the ceiling to catch any tiny pieces of mortar that may (but probably will not) fall.
The Secretary of Defense and the President will be there next weekend for 9/11 ceremonies.
Honestly, the best part of the day - other than being so thankful that I wasn't stuck in an office all day on a beautiful day - was I GOT TO WEAR A HARD HAT!
Cheers, y'all.
