Hello world
I am getting behind on my blog. Apology, please accept. Here's a short post to hold you over since I know you are just drooling with anticipation for my every written word.
My precious Granny Nora is sick. Bladder infection. My guess is it's a classic case of too much Coca-Cola. Please pray for her.
Brokaw the wonder puggle is amazing. He's growing before my eyes... he gained a pound and a half this week! He's now up to 7.5lbs. Oh, the life. Katy is adjusting. I have more funny puppy stories to share but because of the funny puppy stories, I have no energy to do so.
Also this week, I thought the Goodbye Charlie fest on GMA was really sweet and not too over the top, just like Charlie himself. Great guy. Great name. How could you not love him?
Star Jones vs. Barbara Walters. Ha! I am loving watching the fallout over this story. LKL was great tonight. Star with her fake smile, I just want to bust through the TV and tell her off. Such a diva. I am so NOT a fan. I am sure she is destined to have her own weak daytime TV show that will fail after its first season. I am SO suspicious about her weight loss. GBS people, I think so. I am just loving all of the headlines and supers: "Star Wars", "Star Crossed", "Fallen Star," "Shooting Star." Thanks for having a name like that. It's a television producer's dream. Oh... the wordplay possibilities.
One more thing. I bought "Failure to Launch" this week. It was OK. Anything with my precious Matthew in it is fine by me, and I'm glad I own it for just that reason, but it's not as great as "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days."
This weekend I am traveling to Virginia for Granny's birthday bash. Please pray for Granny. Please pray I don't give up in the holiday weekend traffic and turn around. And please pray that my mother and her sister don't get all Jerry Springer and kill each other at the party.
Cheers! Have a happy 4th!

So, I'm just browsing the itunes music store and I come across this:
Paris Hilton has a single. WHAT!?!?! It is crap too. No surprise. Ew. I just had to vent. Thanks.

I often feel like I have A LOT to say. However, not much of it is quotable. Emerson didn't have that problem. While I don't see eye to eye with him on everything, I think the following statement is cool:
"What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us."
--Ralph Waldo Emerson
Okay, that's all for my intellectual side this morning. Now, I'm off to watch Mary J. Blige on Good Morning America. Ha! Oh, and my home brew this morning is Swiss Chocolate Almond. Mmmm.... No one will ruin this fabulous friday, even if they try!
One more thing: I caught a little bit of "Supergroup" on VH1. OH. NO. The only thing worse than wacked out 80's rockers that can't talk in complete sentences is the same guys, 20 years later. I think reality television has now officially thought of everything. Sebastian Bach. The Nuge. Scott Ian. Jason Bonham. Just when It was safe to secretly have a Skid Row song in the deep in the bowels of your ipod where no one can see, there's this. It's such a wierd show.
I am mad at VH1 by the way. While they're airing Supergroup and repeat episodes of what happened to the child stars, they could be re-airing the Nick Lachey behind the music. That would make my day. I still haven't seen it!! And I thought they hopelessly repeated everything?!
Nick, I will proudly take what's left of you and your new resolution. I guess I'll have to get my Nick fix on youtube for now.
Seriously, I'm gone now. Happy happy Friday!

cuteness, defined
Ladies and Gentlemen, I do officially own the cutest puppy alive. Seriously. I'm pretty sure the trophy is in the mail. And the blue ribbon. Everyone at the vet, Petsmart and the park agree. And I have never had so many comments on my myspace or my blog!! Am I a terrible mother for enjoying all of his attention? Hope not, here's more cuteness, defined:
He only has two drawbacks so far. He wasn't born potty trained (darn) and we apparently have the same taste in shoes, so I'll have to be better at putting them in their place.
Totally worth it.

alphabet soup
Every now and then I get in this weird mood where I want to super-organize everything. Today is that day! I will likely try on everything I own, weed out the stuff that doesn't fit/isn't great, do massive amounts of laundry and ironing and alphabetize all of my cds.
How weird is that? On a scale of 1-10. Hmm.. Oh the follies of a single girl's Saturday. The possibilities are endless. There will be much coffee and blueberry muffins with fake butter. Yum. And many repeats of Black Eyed Peas and Jamie Cullum CD's. Don't try to understand this -- it's the randomness that makes it beautiful!
Well, I'm off -- let the alphabetizing begin! Perhaps after that I will try the "public pool." Jury's still out on if I think that's gross or not. I'm feeling a little landlocked here in Pennsylvania, so we'll see.
Oh, and my back patio is getting a spruce-up. I found a really cute table & chairs on sale last weekend. I figure now is a good time to finally take it out of the back of my SUV. K-mart is so ghetto, but Martha Stewart still has her groove there, so I visit, and I scored with this table & chairs!
I want to send out a big welcome to my new visitors!! Keep your comments coming -- it makes my day to hear from all of you!

Instant buddies
Have you ever met someone and it just clicked? In an instant, you just KNEW that you would be friends? It hasn't happened to me since college. Freshman year. Jenn and I clicked. Fast forward. Meet my new instant buddy: the fabulous, funny, adorable and enjoyable Heath...
Hello World!
I am sorry I have been absent. Please forgive.
Borders is having their 3 for 2 sale and so I have been at Panera pretty much every night this week, reading and drinking Hazelnut coffee.
I have my nose in the following books right now: (It's too much trouble to update that column on the right -- at the pace and number of books I'm always going thru/in)
"Blue Water" by A. Manette Ansay
"The Glass Castle" by Jeannette Walls
I'm almost done with Anderson Cooper's "Dispatches From The Edge"
Then, I will be on to "The True and Outstanding Adventures of the Hunt Sisters," by Elisabeth Robinson, which I have heard from several sources is a great summer read.
Okay, so that's my excuse. I'm a bookworm. And a dork. And yes, I do have a t-shirt that actually says "Reading is Sexy," SO THERE.
Let's see... to recap my week at work two words: BEN and MOTORCYCLE. I'm sure you can fill in the blanks, as long as you haven't been living under a rock. Even then. Please. I never knew I could type Roethlisberger so fast!! Add that to my magnificent talent list. :)

Have you ever spent so long on your cell phone that you get a headache? It's kind of like a ponytail headache, only it lasts a little longer. Let's just hope those recent studies that refuted the old studies about cell phones causing brain tumors are right. Seriously. I have been on the phone for hours tonight. With everyone. All my peeps want to talk at once!
Not much else new to report today. Crazy drama at work. You can read about that here: http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/06157/695918-237.stm Long day. Whew. A little uneasy in the newsroom, tomorrow's morning meeting should be interesting.
And in all of my cell phone yacking, I missed Everwood, so fill me in. I am so sad this show is getting the boot. Sigh. I heart Ephram.
Oh, I forgot to mention this the other night. I saw "The Hills" on MTV. First, how does a barely out of high school teenager land an internship at Teen Vogue? And Second, girls, please take your jobs seriously. Please. Don't ruin it for us young professional women who fought for a chance to be taken seriously. Smart girls rule. I'm totally with Pink on that.

Amber's Wedding
So, I am back in the 'Burgh after my trip down South for the weekend. It was a fabulous, needed respite. Amber's wedding was absolutely beautiful. It was under a big white tent at a church in Rocky Mount, VA. The weather was perfect, the bride was SO BEAUTIFUL and the ceremony was very sweet. She had the big guy (Jerry Falwell) do the ceremony! His voice was giving me flashbacks of convocation, but that's okay. Amber is such a sweetheart and a special person to me. I regret that we haven't done a better job at staying in touch. But perhaps we will start now, I hope so. It was SO great to see Amber and her family. A couple of things happened that are "worth writing home about." First, Amber tied the knot. Duh. Second, this is news people: Ann and I actually took a decent picture together!! And we got one with Jerry!! Oh, and I'm pretty sure Amber's little brother was hitting on me. That's two for two for me getting little brothers at weddings. I'm starting to get a little freaked out.
Here are some pictures from the blessed event:
Okay, so as a single girl, you know I go to weddings looking for ideas. Not that I am anywhere in the hemisphere of thinking about marriage, but I am a girl, and yes, we do start thinking about these things at about age 7. Well, Amber did something really neat: Instead of throwing her bouquet, she gave it away to the woman who had been married the longest. The lady that walked away with the flowers had been hitched 51 years!! I think that's so sweet, plus, it saves your single friends the torment of having to stand with the flower girl and your little niece waiting to catch the bouquet. Please, think of us. That experience just gets more and more humiliating as the years go by, and the pool of single women dwindles.

3 day weekend
I'm out this weekend. 3 day weekend!! I'm going to the Old Dominion (that's Virginia for the uneducated) for my college roommate, Amber's wedding. Yeah! I can't believe she's getting married. I am slowly becoming the only single person left! Oh well, I'll get to see lots of old friends, plus, I'm ready for a break from the big city.
Here's a funny old picture from college in celebration of Amber's big step in life.
